Pre-school education in Slovenia consists of pre-school classes in public and private schools for children over 11 months of age. You can take your child to school throughout the school year. For the children of foreign nationals, if their families are provided with material protection under the Social Security Ordinance, they may enjoy a discount or full exemption from the education fee.

The children of foreign citizens lawfully residing in Slovenia have the right to compulsory primary education after reaching the age of six. In Slovenia, several schools offer international courses for resident children. These institutions teach in foreign languages.
